Allen Heritage Center is open on the second and fourth weekends of the month on Saturdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and on Sundays from 1–3 p.m. Visit allenheritageguild.org/heritagecentermuseum.html.

Frisco Heritage Museum is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Wednesdays–Saturdays, and 1–5 p.m. on Sundays. Call 972.292.5665 or visit friscomuseum.com.

Heard Museum in McKinney is generally open Monday–Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 1–5 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for children 3-12 and seniors, and children under 3 get in free. Family memberships are available. The Native Texas Butterflies exhibit is going on now through Sunday, October 10. Call 972.562.5566 or visit heardmuseum.org.

Heritage Farmstead Museum is open Tuesday–Sunday from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and closed on Mondays. Docent-guided tours are at 1:30 p.m. or by appointment. Guided tours are $5 or $3.50 for seniors (65 plus) and students (5-18). Museum members and children 4 and under get in free. Self-guided tours to the grounds only (no access to the Farrell-Wilson House or outbuildings) are $2 per person. Call 972.881.0140 or visit heritagefarmstead.org.

Interurban Railway Station Museum in downtown Plano is open Monday–Friday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and Saturdays from 1–5 p.m. The museum is housed in a building that served as a primary stop on the Texas Electric Railway that ran between Denison and Dallas from 1908–1948. Admission is free. Call 972.941.2117.

The North Texas History Center (NTHC) discovers, preserves, and shares North Texas heritage with present and future generations through its museums and programs. NTHC is hosting various summer camps now through August 3: Cowboy Night is Friday, July 9; Farm Camp is Tuesday, July 13; Archaeology Night is Friday, July 16; and Leatherworking is Wednesday, July 28. A Toys and Games morning on Tuesday, August 3 will round out the summer. Toys and Games, as well as the Farm Camp, are $10 each; all other camps are $25 each.
