Meals on Wheels of Collin County has volunteer opportunities available to deliver meals Monday–Friday between 11 a.m.–1 p.m. A commitment of as little as twice a month can make a difference. For more information, contact Lara Kitchens, Volunteer Coordinator, at 972.562.6996, ext. 125.

Methodist Children’s Home is recruiting Collin County families interested in providing foster/adoptive care to infants and other pre-school children. To become a part of this group, call 972.480.8772.

North Texas History Museum is seeking volunteers to assist with tours of K–5 school groups. If you enjoy dealing with energetic elementary students, visit the Volunteer McKinney Center Web site at volunteermckinney.org.

Plano Animal Shelter needs volunteers to walk the dogs, keep cages tidy, and love on the pets. There is also a need for foster care and clerical assistance. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and commit for six months. Orientation and training is required. Call 972.941.7436.

Plano Children's Theatre has lots of volunteer opportunities for adults and children at least 11 years old. Opportunities include assisting in the art room, selling concessions, helping younger children create art projects at festivals, and more. Volunteers who work at a show may see the show for free! Volunteers must submit a criminal background check and be approved before volunteer hours can be logged.

Plano Clothes Closet provides clothes, linens, and small household articles for local low–income families. Volunteers and children’s clothes are always needed. It is located in the First Presbyterian Church, 1500 Jupiter Rd. in Plano. Contact Mary Ann Miller, 972.424.7844 for drop-off hours.
