Around 2,800 beer enthusiasts from all over North Texas came out to the Plano Centre on May 14 for the North Texas Beer Festival. The first of its kind in Plano, the festival featured dozens of brewers, live music, home brewing demonstrations, contests, and more. While the main focus of the event was beer, a room was devoted to Texas wineries as well. Guests sampled all kinds of specialty and imported beers, and Guinness Chef Todd Davies conducted a class on cooking with beer. Darrell Faircloth, director of the event, said he was pleased with the turnout.

A silent auction benefitted The Samaritan Inn. Jim Malatich, Director of the Samaritan Inn, said, "All of us at The Samaritan Inn would like thank the organizers of the North Texas Beer Festival for choosing us as one of the beneficiaries. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to helping those individuals and families who are currently inflicted with being homeless.
