Trock Falls, Glacier National Park, Montana
Jean Ellis Newman
Running Eagle Falls, near Two Medicine Lake, is one of the many dazzling waterfalls and cascades punctuating the magnificent mountain vistas in Glacier National Park.
Also known as Trick Falls, here one body of water somersaults over the cliff and merges with another waterfall gushing from a huge hole in the cliff wall, appearing to be one waterfall. When the upper waterfall dries up late in the season, the lower one surges from the cave alone.
Both falls were flowing abundantly on the cool, sunny, July day of our visit. Painting from memory, I've tried to capture the spectacular quality of Trick Falls in this watercolor. What a tricky bit of work that was!
