It’ll be a Big Band Blowout! as the Plano Community Band presents its last concert in the Summer Concert Series featuring 27- year-old guest drummer Stockton Helbing.
After attending the University of North Texas where he was a member of the One O’Clock Lab Band, Helbing toured around the world with legendary trumpet player Maynard Ferguson. In addition to being a featured soloist, Stockton served as music director and producer for Ferguson’s Grammy-nominated studio album The One and Only. Stockton has two critically acclaimed albums in his own name, and he launched his own record label, Armored Records, which focuses on original music releases.
"For Nothing is Secret" is the follow-up to Helbing's 2005 release Lodestar (NohJoh Music) which was selected by Maynard Ferguson to be a part of his MF Presents series, a selection that made Helbing both the only drummer and the youngest musician ever to hold such honors.
Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the summer breeze—and some beats—at this free concert that begins at 7 p.m. Monday, July 27 at Haggard Park.
To hear Stockton Helbing, turn up your volume and hit Play on the selection.
