A misty morning turned sunny and bright on May 21 for the
100-year birthday celebration of car 360. The Assistance Center of Collin County, The Plano Conservancy, and other local organizations teamed up to sponsor Celebrating Plano’s Treasures in Haggard Park. David McCall III, presented the 2011 Plano Heritage Preservation awards, and Plano Mayor Phil Deyer proclaimed May 2011 as Celebrating America’s Treasures Month. Organizations that came out to support the event were the Sons of the American Revolution, Plano Rotary Club, the Heritage Farmstead Museum, and the Plano African-American Museum. The Plano Fire Department displayed its 1929 Pirsch and restored 1982 LaFrance fire engines, and the Plano Police Department brought out a squad car. Kids activities included trackless train rides, face-painting, sidewalk chalk art, cane-pole fishing, and roping.
